About Jill West

Dr. West is the Director of Psychology at Scottish Rite for Children, where she leads a team of exceptional professionals across both of our distinguished campuses. Dr. West earned her Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Science degrees from Tulane University. She completed a doctoral internship in school psychology through the Louisiana School Psychology Internship Consortium and Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, followed by a two-year post-doctoral fellowship in pediatric psychology at Children\'s Hospital New Orleans.Dr. West\'s primary clinical practice centers on pediatric psychology, with a focus on the intersection of psychology and medicine for youth with chronic, recurrent, or significant medical conditions. Her services are provided in outpatient settings through therapeutic interventions and interdisciplinary clinics, as well as inpatient through the consultation-liaison service. Beyond her work in pediatric psychology, Dr. West has a strong interest in staff wellbeing. She previously served as the wellness liaison for University of Queensland medical students during their tenure at Ochsner. She participates in staff wellness planning and facilitates Schwartz Rounds in her current role. Dr. West was integral in the development of training programs at Ochsner, including their doctoral internship and pediatric psychology post-doctoral fellowship. In her current role, she participates in training of post-doctoral fellowship and practicum students from the doctoral program at UT Southwestern. Dr. West is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Psychological Association (APA), Division 53 for Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology and Division 54 for Pediatric Psychology, where she co-facilitates the affinity group for leadership and is on the planning committee for Leadership Excellence and Advancement Program (LEAP). She is also a member of the Texas and Louisiana Psychology Associations, and has an Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT). She actively participates in the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), is a member of the North Texas chapter, and completed the Executive Program in 2024.
