About Hussnain Mirza.

I serve as the Neonatal Fellowship Program Director, Co-Chair of Pediatric Clinical Research, and Director of the BPD and Home Ventilation Program at AdventHealth for Children. I am also an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Loma Linda University School of Medicine (Orlando Campus).My academic work spans review articles, original research, randomized clinical trials, and book chapters. I am currently leading the development of a piglet model of neonatal hypoxic respiratory failure to evaluate a modified lifesaving device, an initiative aimed at advancing translational innovation in neonatal care.I am Board Certified in Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, a Fellow of the College of Physicians & Surgeons (Pakistan), and a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (London, UK). My leadership training includes the AdventHealth Physician Leadership Course (2014–2015) and an MBA from the University of Central Florida (2019–2021). In 2025, I began pursuing a Master\'s in Health Informatics and Artificial Intelligence at UCF to integrate technology-driven strategies into neonatal practice and systems improvement.Nationally, I served as Co-Chair of the Physician Leadership Committee of the American Academy of Pediatrics (MidCaN) from 2023 to 2025 and as Ad Hoc Committee Co-Chair for the BPD Collaborative, contributing to advocacy, policy development, and multicenter quality initiatives.As a senior neonatologist, I care for infants born at the margins of viability (as early as 22 weeks) and those with complex, life-threatening conditions requiring advanced life support, including ECMO. I am recognized for my expertise in Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) and Targeted Neonatal Echocardiography (TnECHO).As a physician leader, I bring a comprehensive understanding of clinical operations, academic advancement, and financial stewardship in healthcare. My vision is to transform neonatal care through innovation, collaboration, and data-driven decision-support. I am committed to building strong, collegial teams that prioritize patient safety, family-centered care, continuous quality improvement, and the strategic use of technology to enhance outcomes and optimize resource utilization.

    This is a tertiary care, 102 bed neonatal ICU at the Advent Health for Children in Orlando. We provide clinical care to preterm infants born at the margins of viability (22 weeks and above). We offer high frequency ventilation & ECMO for complex and critically sick newborns, Our comprehensive pediatric open-heart program was started in 2012 and have a strong track record of positive outcomes. We also have several key destination programs including our level 4 Epilepsy program. Our unparalleled network consists of 30 hospitals across the state with one children’s hospital at the center and several extremely successful pediatric subspecialty programs including outreach clinics. Our newest program has brought pediatric liver transplant services to Central Florida. In 2019, AdventHealth for Children was recognized by US News and World Report as the best Children’s Hospital for newborn care in Florida. We are also recognized by The Leapfrog Group as a top Children’s Hospital for quality and safety, and we are a magnet designated hospital for nursing care.
