Dr. Wilson is an Associate Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice and Associated Professor of African American Studies at Indiana State University. Dr. Wilson’s research and publication interests are all focused on increasing the general public’s knowledge of key criminal justice issues. He approaches his research through a blending of criminological, historical, and communications research techniques. His primary area of research is on issues surrounding Mass Incarceration. He also focuses on media depictions of police, crime and victimization. Dr. Wilson is currently researching and writing a book on the largest prison cemetery in the United States. He is also interested in issues regarding Race & Socioeconomic Class, Public & Prison Health, Death Penalty and The History of Island Prisons. His research has been published in leading journals such as The Prison Journal, Women & Criminal Justice, Race & Justice, and the Journal of Criminal Justice and Popular Culture. Additionally, Dr. Wilson and/or his research has been featured in numerous news outlets including the New York Times, USA Today, Pittsburg Gazette, Houston Chronicle, U.S. Catholic, Quartz, Texas Tribune, Texas Observer, MMXLII [mixly], Trebuchet Magazine, Madame Noire, Monocle 24 Radio (London), and the Huffington Post. His research has also resulted in invited speaking engagements by the Indiana University Department of Anthropology, University of Westminster, University of New South Wales, St. Francis College, and most notably as the Keynote Speaker at the 2014 Annual National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE) Conference. He is the author and editor of the book \"Crime and Media Studies: Diversity of Method, Medium, and Communication\" published by Cognella.
