About Drew Ells

I received my PhD in Chemical Engineering at Columbia University as an NDSEG Fellow. My doctoral work developed design rules for the new field of K-ion batteries; I am an expert in a wide array of chemical and electrochemical characterization tools to assess the performance of electrode materials, electrolytes, and interphases for Li and beyond-Li chemistries. Because few K-ion battery materials or best practices exist, I have become an expert in electrode synthesis, cell fabrication, and failure analysis.Additionally, I have a proven track record as an exceptional mentor and communicator, having trained successful students at all levels and presented my work at competitive conferences and journals.
