About Rebekah Dyer
Dr. Rebekah Dyer is a dynamic presenter that supports educators in understanding and embracing the value of inclusion of individuals with disabilities. She is a Full Professor in the college of education at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ. The courses that she teaches focus on special education, both undergraduate and graduate.Dr. Dyer is passionate about supporting individuals with disabilities, specifically regarding inclusion in all settings. She is on the advisory board for the Lopes Academy at Grand Canyon University. The Lopes Academy provides an opportunity for individuals with developmental disabilities to experience college in a 2-year certificate program. She teaches classes in this program as well. Dr. Dyer also hosts an annual Disability Week for the university campus to increase knowledge of disability and promote inclusion. She graduated from Arizona State University West with a bachelor’s degree in special education and a dual certification in both regular and special education. She completed her master’s degree in educational leadership from Northern Arizona University. Dr. Dyer graduated with a doctoral degree in organizational leadership with an emphasis in special education from Grand Canyon University. Her dissertation research focused on the inclusion of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder in disability ministry programs. She presented her research at an International Autism Conference in Nanjiing, China. Dr. Dyer has published multiple articles and presented at numerous national conferences on disability and inclusion. Professional development topics include inclusion, differentiated instruction, co-teaching models, behavior supports, dyslexia, special education laws, IEP\'s, etc. Research interests include special education, inclusion of individuals with disabilities, dyslexia, differentiated instruction and disability ministry.Strengths in teaching include building relationships with students, communication, and classroom engagement.
