Virginia Union University welcomes Dr. Derrick Harkins as the Dean of Graduate Leadership Studies, where he will spearhead the development and strategic direction of the University’s expanding presence in New York.Dr. Harkins brings an exceptional breadth of experience in ministry, public service, education, and civic engagement. In his new role, he will lead the visioning and operations of the W. Franklyn Richardson Graduate Center, positioning it as a hub for graduate education, leadership development, and community impact across the region and beyond.His distinguished career includes serving as Senior Advisor at The Raben Group, Director of the Center for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development under the Biden administration, and a leading contributor to public programs at Union Theological Seminary. His leadership has spanned producing social impact documentaries and addressing issues such as food insecurity, healthcare equity, and international relief.“We are excited to welcome Dr. Derrick Harkins to Virginia Union University,” said Dr. Hakim J.
