ABOUT DAVID RICHARDS

I am a K–12 education leader, strategist, and consultant focused on redesigning learning so every child has the opportunity to be successful every day. My work centers on helping educators move beyond traditional, time-based systems toward flexible, competency-based learning environments designed for today’s learners. My career spans the full education continuum. I began as a high school computer science teacher, later serving as Director of Educational Technology and Information Systems for Rochester Community Schools. I went on to become Principal of Fraser High School and ultimately Superintendent of Fraser Public Schools, where I led system-level innovation focused on learning design, technology integration, and organizational coherence.Today, I serve as Executive Director of the Future of Learning Council, where I am focused on the growth and expansion of a statewide network supporting districts and ISDs across Michigan as they transform from traditional models to personalized, competency-based learning systems. I also serve as President of Core2Edge, LLC, providing strategic consulting to education leaders, and as Lead Strategist and co-founder of Safe Scan Solutions, working directly with to monitor student mobility on campus and during extra-curricular activities.I am a frequent national presenter and keynote speaker, having presented at AASA, ASU+GSV, CoSN, and other conferences on the future of learning, leadership evolution, and system redesign. I believe the traditional model of schooling was built for a time that no longer exists—and that meaningful change happens when educators collaborate to intentionally design learning that is flexible, relevant, and deeply human.GOAL: Redefining Learning through Innovation and Leadership.Areas of Focus:Future of Learning • Competency-Based Education • Personalized Learning • Learning Model Design • District & ISD Transformation • Educational Leadership • EdTech Strategy • System Redesign
