How does one become a grief coach? Similar to how most people become coaches, it often stems from a personal experience. After the devastating loss of my mother, I felt stuck in grief. Fortunately, I had a life-affirming support system that helped me navigate my loss.My experience deepened my understanding that loss isn\'t solely related to loved ones. This prompted me to learn more about how organizational leaders create spaces to support those experiencing different types of losses.I\'ve been a professor for over 10 years, and my research focuses on grief leadership, trauma-informed leadership practices in organizational settings, and the health and well-being of historically marginalized and underrepresented populations.Now, I’m driven to help people navigate grief and organizations become empathetic, inclusive, and caring. Here’s how I can support you: 1:1 Grief Coaching: I offer a 12-week one-on-one grief coaching program to individuals seeking support after experiencing loss in their lives. We meet virtually twice a month and explore strategies and actions that help them get unstuck in their grief. I work closely with my clients to uncover how they would best move forward with intention, clarity, and grace. Consulting & Training: I help organizations retain talent by providing strategies on how to become a trauma-informed organization, consulting on faculty and organizational diversity initiatives, supporting employees through loss and grief, and implementing best practices for cultivating an inclusive workplace. Speaking & Workshops: I speak at special events, conferences, summits, and retreats on various topics related to my academic research, including work-life balance, confronting imposter syndrome, closing the care loop, and more.My personal experience and academic background serve as my guide to do this work. My current research is in grief leadership and trauma-informed practices in higher education, BIPOC communities in education, and health and well-being for historically underserved communities.
