ABOUT CLAIRE BRASH

Claire is an enthusiastic and diligent academic medical Doctor and graduated Rector’s Scholar from Imperial College London School of Medicine (Class of 2018), currently working as a LED Neurosurgery ST2 at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (20••••26).A previous Royal College of Psychiatrists Pathfinder Fellow (20••••18) and Academic Foundation Programme Doctor with Newcastle-upon-Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Newcastle University (20••••20), she is passionate about clinical research and the interconnected nature of the brain and mind. In addition to her MBBS, Claire graduated with BSc(Hons) in Medical Sciences with Neuroscience and Mental Health from Imperial College London (2015) and was selected for the prestigious Undergraduate Research Traineeship with McGill University’s Montreal Neurological Hospital in Montreal, Canada (2015) and Research Elective in NeuroPsychiatry at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, USA (2018), both building on experience from Newcastle University\'s Institute of Neuroscience, researching Psychophysics on both a Nuffield Foundation Research Bursary (2010) and Newcastle University Vacational Scholarship (2012).Claire\'s interests expand to Global Mental Health, Policy and Ethics, competing regularly in Model World Health Organisation Simulations. Notably, Claire won Best Delegate at McGill University’s Montreal Model WHO (2015), National Scholarship to American Model WHO at Emory University (2016) and was Regional Chair for Nordic Model WHO at United Nations City Copenhagen (2016), before Co-Founding London Model WHO at LSHTM (20••••18). Furthermore, Claire was part of the winning Imperial College team at the Institute of Medical Ethics National Debating Competition (2013) and on Committee for the Royal Society of Medicine (RSM) Student Policy Initiative (2017). She holds Membership of the Royal Society of Public Health (2018). Claire\'s passion for outreach and tutoring led her to become President\'s Ambassador for Imperial College London (20••••18) and Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia Clinical Teaching Fellow (20••••21)m where she worked in Johor Bahru during the COVID19 pandemic, teaching, mentoring and assessing international MBBS Years 1-5 students. She holds a PGCert MedEd from Newcastle University (2021) and Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (2018). Finally, after being awarded Scholarship of the Healthcare Leadership Academy (20••••19), she was granted Fellowship of the Institute of Leadership and Management in recognition of her confident leadership and project management skills.
