Dr. Beatriz García is a leading expert in international cultural policy and mega-events, specializing in multidimensional research and evaluation frameworks. With over two decades of experience, she has shaped global discussions on culture-led regeneration, Olympic cultural programs, and the European Capital of Culture (ECoC) initiative.She is Associate Director at the Centre for Cultural Value, Honorary Senior Research Fellow in Major Events & Communication at the University of Liverpool, and a member of the Culture & Olympic Heritage Commission at the International Olympic Committee. Previously, she served on the European Capital of Culture Selection Panel, nominated by the European Commission.Beatriz has conducted fieldwork at every Olympic Games since Sydney and assessed the long-term legacy of every ECoC since 1985. She directed key research projects, including: The Olympic Games & Cultural Policy, 100-year review of arts & cultural programming at the Olympics The official Evaluations of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad and Paris 2024 Cultural Olympiad The first 30-year assessment of European Capital of Culture legacies, for the European Parliament Impacts 08, the 10-year evaluation of Liverpool 2008 as European Capital of Culture The 10 year evaluation of Glasgow 1990: first European City of Culture to link culture & regenerationShe co-founded and led the Institute of Cultural Capital (20••••19) and co-directed the UK’s first Evaluation Principles for Culture (Centre for Cultural Value, 2022).
