ABOUT AYAN CHATTERJEE
I am a doctoral student from the department of chemical sciences at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Kolkata. My research covers a wide range of topics from design and synthesis of catalytic amyloids for various biocatalysis, developing dynamic self-assembly for temporal functions, construction of microscopic protocells for compartmentalized chemical transformations, nano/microscale motors, and complex reaction networks. The topics extensively demand synthesis and characterization of amyloidogenic long-chain peptides and small organic compounds. Subsequently, these synthesized compounds are employed to develop catalytic supramolecular nano assemblies. Further, synergistic action between these the designed nano assemblies and evolved enzymes are utilized to generate very complex systems. A diverse set of purification and analytical knowledge is necessary to carry out these works. In this context, I am well conversant in the following techniques and instrument handling. Purification methods: column and thin-layer chromatography and high-performance liquid chromatography. Analytical and spectroscopic methods: UV/Visible, Fluorescence, HPLC-MS, CD, DLS, Zeta, 1H, 13C, 11B NMR, ESI-MS, HRMS, FTIR, PXRD, and so forth.Imaging techniques SEM, TEM, AFM, epi-fluorescence Microscopy. Knowledge of specialized software: Origin, Chem-Draw, CorelDraw, VMD, Image-J, and MestReNova.
