About Ashu Shukla

Over 32 years of leadership across counterterrorism, strategic governance, multinational operations, and public policy have shaped my approach to one fundamental question: how do institutions build resilience, integrity, and sustained performance under the most demanding conditions. As Inspector General of Police (CRPF, Government of India), I commanded security operations across some of India\'s most complex theatres, including counterterrorism in South Kashmir during the pre-Article 370 period, anti-Naxal operations in Chhattisgarh, and state-level security leadership in Jharkhand. As Chief Operations and Communication Officer for Indian Special Police Units with the United Nations in Kosovo, I led multinational operations involving 42 countries, building cross-cultural governance frameworks under extreme operational pressure. Today, I channel this experience into governance, academia, and mentorship. As Visiting Professor at IIT Kanpur, I teach leadership and performance management to the next generation of innovators. As Senior Subject Matter Expert with the Commonwealth Secretariat (London), I advise on government performance management across member nations. As a startup mentor at IIT Kanpur SIIC and the Tamil Nadu Startup and Innovation Mission, I guide founders on scaling, organizational transformation, and governance readiness. I hold a Doctorate in Performance Management, an MBA in Human Resources, and academic credentials from Erasmus University Rotterdam and Suffolk University. I am a Certified Independent Director from both the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) and the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE), registered on the IICA Data Bank in the exempted category. I am the recipient of the President\'s Police Medal for Meritorious Service, the United Nations Medal, and the Foreign Service Medal, among other national honours. As an Independent Director, I bring a rare convergence of crisis management capability, regulatory and government-interface expertise, performance management scholarship, and ethical governance conviction. I am particularly drawn to boards navigating regulatory complexity, organizational transformation, public-sector interfaces, and ESG-driven governance evolution.
