ABOUT ASHLEY DOCKENS
Dr. Ashley Dockens is a senior academic executive and nationally recognized scholar-practitioner whose career spans faculty scholarship, academic administration, and institutional leadership in public higher education, including faculty evaluation and tenure and promotion processes at the department and college levels. She serves as Associate Provost for Academic Innovation and Digital Learning at Lamar University, where she leads institutional strategy in digital learning, instructional quality, academic innovation, and artificial intelligence while overseeing multi-million operational and strategic budgets. Dr. Dockens provides executive leadership for the Division of Digital Learning and the Division of Innovation, Responsible Ethics, and CyberTech, an interdisciplinary initiative she co-founded that integrates academic innovation with technology governance and cybersecurity strategy for AI integration across academics and operations. She is the architect of AI in Every Program, Lamar University’s institution-wide initiative ensuring that all academic programs prepare students for AI-affected professional environments while preserving faculty academic freedom. Recognized nationally and internationally for her work on AI-enabled learning and the future of higher education, she advises institutions on responsible AI adoption, faculty development, and academic strategy, serves on the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board Learning Technologies Advisory Committee, and was named one of the Top 50 Voices in Higher Education by Vevox for global leadership in combining innovation, excellence, and service in higher education.
