WORK HISTORY
Medical Transcriber @Sfr Medical
GB
With SFR Medical Ltd who work on behalf of the police to expedite the obtaining of medical evidence of victims of violent crime, a medical report/statement termed SFR (Streamlined Forensic Report) is created by medical transcribers. Both the medical notes obtained and the SFR written are sent to the relevant police officer. The medical evidence then forms the part of the case file which is presented to the prosecution lawyers to make a charging decision on the suspect(s).The role of the medical transcriber is to complete SFRs within three working days, using a blank templated form for an SFR1 or an SFR2. In an SFR1, as a medical transcriber I was able to convert the medical notes describing the injuries sustained and treatment received by a victim into non-medical jargon for the police officers, lawyers and jury. In an SFR2, as a medical transcriber I answered specific questions asked by the lawyers.
