About Ann Marie Chavez
How do we design learning systems that truly prepare students for the future—and ensure every student has the opportunity to grow, thrive, and succeed?That question has shaped every chapter of my career. I began as an educator and district leader, eventually serving as Area Deputy Chief of Schools for Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment in Chicago Public Schools, where I led instructional transformation across 42 schools and helped drive a 22-point average increase in state assessment growth.Later, I founded Modern Teacher, an education innovation organization focused on helping school systems redesign learning around personalized and competency-based models. Through that work we partnered with 100+ school districts nationwide, developed instructional frameworks and technology platforms, and supported initiatives impacting more than one million students, driving personalized learning models at scale.Across these experiences, my focus has remained consistent:• Designing learning systems that produce measurable student growth• Building teams and organizations capable of scaling innovation• Translating learning science into practical models schools can implement• Helping leaders rethink how technology, instruction, and leadership come together to transform educationI believe the future of education will require us to rethink traditional structures and build systems that enable faster learning, deeper engagement, and greater opportunity for every student.Designed learning systems → implemented in schools → proved outcomes → scaled nationally.Today, I’m particularly interested in leadership roles that help organizations scale innovative models and strengthen communities across nonprofit and education sectors.I always welcome conversations with leaders working to advance innovation, AI-enabled workflows, and system transformation.When I am not focused on changing the world, I enjoy spending time with family, hiking with my dog, and engaging in my community.
