About Dranel Jiles

I’m a senior Information Science major at the University of Maryland, and I’ll be joining Morgan State University’s PhD program in Secure Embedded Systems starting Fall 2025. My career focus is on reverse engineering, secure System-on-Chip (SoC) design, and low-level system analysis. I’m especially interested in the intersection of hardware and cybersecurity — diving deep into how chips are built, how systems communicate, and how vulnerabilities can be identified and mitigated at the hardware level. Through CTF competitions, I’ve gained hands-on experience in offensive security, forensics, and vulnerability analysis, which has helped me sharpen both my technical and analytical skills. My long-term goal is to help design and secure embedded systems from the ground up, contributing to both defense and industry efforts. I’m passionate about solving hard problems, continuously learning, and collaborating with others who share a deep curiosity for how systems really work.
