About Will Berman

I’m a classically trained baritone and educator passionate about helping students develop strong, expressive, and healthy vocal technique across genres. I currently teach applied voice, class voice, and chorale at Raritan Valley Community College, and I’ve worked with singers of all ages through programs like the Austria Summer Music Festival and Rutgers Community Arts.My own performance work spans opera, recital, and choral repertoire, with highlights including Masetto in Don Giovanni, Schaunard in La Bohème, Apollo in L’Orfeo, and solo recitals in New Jersey, Austria, and New York. I sing regularly with the Church of St. Luke in the Fields and previously held long-term positions at churches in New York and Rochester.Before earning my D.M.A. in Voice Performance from Rutgers, I completed degrees at Westminster Choir College (M.M.) and the Eastman School of Music (B.M.). At Eastman, I co-founded a student-run chamber ensemble and began teaching private voice lessons, which I’ve continued ever since.I take a collaborative, student-centered approach to teaching that emphasizes musicianship, versatility, and confidence on stage. In addition to applied voice, I’ve taught group technique courses for non-majors and high school students, run sectional rehearsals, and coached students for performances, juries, and auditions.Whether in the studio or on stage, I care deeply about helping singers connect to their voices, deepen their artistry, and find joy in performance.
