About Ulka Mayur

Award-winning theatre and film director, playwright, performer, and folklorist, dedicated to original storytelling across stage and screen. As co-founder of Story Circus, I create works ranging from solo acts to large-scale productions. Highlights include: Cast Off All Shame — one-woman show (South Asia Laadli Award) Ballad of Desires — dance theatre piece Where the Heart Is — documentary (currently on the festival circuit) Lost & Found in Kumbh — feature film (Executive Producer; teaser premiered at Cannes) As a performer, I have presented comic acts, storytelling, and theatre pieces at leading festivals and cultural spaces including the Jaipur Theatre Festival, Hyderabad Literary Festival, Serendipity Arts Festival, CSMVS, Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum, and the Harvard in Asia Program. My performances are often recognised for addressing gender issues with humour and sensitivity. Through Story Circus, I lead bespoke productions for corporates, cultural institutions, and communities, with clients including HSBC, Lodha, Sheth Group, and Chitralekha magazine. I am now expanding into larger film and multimedia projects, continuing my belief that stories can connect, transform, and inspire.
