ABOUT THOMAS FOSTER
As a composer, classical guitarist, and educator for special needs populations in Los Angeles, California, I have discovered a tremendous lack of safe containers for therapeutic experiences. For the past 20 years, as an adaptive music specialist and moderate to severe special educator, I have specialized in music related intervention strategies for individuals with orthopedic impairment, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and multiple disabilities.Faced with the unsolved barriers that I have encountered through my experience in the field of health and education, I have published a collection of programs called Sound Sage that makes inclusive therapy and education accessible regardless of socioeconomic or functional limitations. Creating this content was inspired by lifetime journey of searching for the optimal way to serve my clients’ needs. My interest in music as a healing modality led me to a master’s degree in special education research, music therapy studies with Dr. David Luce at Chapman University, and studies in Tibetan Sound Bowl healing with Diane Mandle. In my spare time I enjoy contributing to the Little Kids Rock Foundation as an ambassador for special education and inclusivity.
