ABOUT TERESA WHEELER
I am an Educational Psychologist who works with children, families, and schools to explore the stories that shape how difficulties are understood — and how possibilities are opened or closed as a result.Much of my work begins where problem-saturated narratives have taken hold: when a child has come to be known mainly through labels, behaviours, or what is not working. I am interested in slowing these stories down, becoming curious about their origins, and making space for alternative accounts that centre meaning, agency, and relationship. My approach is informed by narrative practice, mindfulness, and many years of experience in education, including working as a SEN teacher. I aim to work collaboratively, privileging lived experience and local knowledge, and resisting deficit-based explanations wherever possible.I am particularly drawn to work with neurodiverse children and their families, and I bring both professional and personal experience to this area. I see mindfulness not as a tool for compliance or regulation, but as a way of noticing, pausing, and choosing how we respond — individually and together.Above all, I am interested in helping the people I work with tell richer, kinder, and more hopeful stories about themselves and one another, even within systems that can make this difficult.
