ABOUT TAREK ABDEL-FATTAH
Dr. Tarek Abdel-Fattah holds a B.S. and M.S. degrees in Chemistry from Alexandria University, Egypt and a Ph.D. degree in Inorganic and Materials Chemistry from Northeastern University, Boston, USA. Currently, he is Lawrence J. Sacks Endowed Professor of Chemistry at Christopher Newport University (CNU) and the CNU Director of the Applied Research Center (ARC) at Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (Jefferson National Lab) research complex, Newport News, Virginia. He was the President of Sigma Xi Tidewater Chapter of Virginia 20••••06 and holds the Program Chair position of the chapter since 2006. Also, he was the chair for the American Chemical Society (ACS) for the Hampton Road section 20••••10 and in the executive committee since He has published over 100 papers, 9 International and US patents, and over 75 presentations in national and international meetings. He has been awarded First Prize from the Physical Sciences Division of the American Association of Advancement of Science He has been awarded twice the American Association for Educational Engineering (NASA-ASEE) award of the summer faculty fellowship program. He is twice the recipient of the NASA Faculty Fellowship. He is awarded three times NASA Certificate of Recognition in different projects concerning nanotechnology for aerospace applications. He was the first recipient of CNU first Annual Faculty Award for Excellence in Scholarship, 2012.
