ABOUT SUSANNE SCHLAACK

In my current position, sustainability in fisheries management and control is key, strengthening the sector as well as sustainably preserving our oceans. I am still learning a lot every day in this highly political and culturally as well as economically decisive sector. As former head of division “Right to food” as well as international organizations food security and nutrition, FAO, I have been dealing for around 10 years with food security, agriculture and migration issues. Close collaboration with FAO and Rome Based Agencies has been the focus of my work. Bilateral project cooperation with FAO to strengthen world food security is the German national approach and focus of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture. The idea is to support FAO in its core mandate as a normative organization. Strong support for the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) with its human rights based approach is key. Promotion of the right to adequate food is guidance for our work. Continued focus of our main goals: remaining engaged in the follow up process of UN World Food Systems Summit, supporting the negotiations of Voluntary Guidelines and Policy recommendation of the CFS, implementing CFS policy recommendations and products, and strengthening the Right to adequate Food. A world without hunger must be possible!
