Susan L. Tarasevich, Ed.D brings skills from science teaching, school counseling and school administration to her current work as a preventionist with Addiction Medicine Services of Western Psychiatric Institute & Clinic-UPMC. She has assisted schools and agencies at the local, state, regional and national levels in designing, implementing, and evaluating sustainable school based behavioral health promotion frameworks for youth. Among her many “hats” Susan is a certified Pennsylvania Positive Behavioral Intervention & Support facilitator and lead trainer for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Approved K-12 SAP Training. She provides training, evaluation, coordination, collaboration, coaching and technical assistance to schools and agencies within Allegheny County, Pennsylvania and beyond. Popular professional development topics include the highly regarded workshop titled \"Poverty and Trauma: 21st Century Strategies for Trauma Sensitive Schools.\" In this workshop, Susan explores the current research on suburban poverty and outlines strategies for purpose-focused management of the classroom and student achievement. Susan holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Pittsburgh, a Master of Science in School Counseling from Duquesne University and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Seton Hill University. She has co-authored two books: Promoting Child and Adolescent Mental Health (Jones and Bartlett, 2013) and Caring in Times of Crisis (Youthlight, February, 2001).
