ABOUT SURYA NARAYANAN SAKTHIVEL
I am currently a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Civil Engineering at IIT Bombay, specializing in pavement materials and sustainable asphalt technologies. I completed my Ph.D. in Pavement Materials from IIT Jammu under the supervision of Prof. Ankit Kathuria (IIT Jammu) and Prof. Bhupendra Singh (IIT Jodhpur).Recently, I was awarded the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Seal of Excellence for my research proposal VIBRANT-Heritage (Score: 94%), developed under the mentorship of Prof. Augusto Cannone Falchetto at the University of Padova (UNIPD), Italy. This recognition reflects the scientific merit and international relevance of my research work.My research interests focus on asphalt materials, pavement performance enhancement, anti-stripping agents, recycling technologies, and sustainable infrastructure development.I am a Corresponding Member of the Highway Pavement Committee and the Younger Member Committee of ASCE–Transportation & Development Institute (ASCE-T & DI). I am also an IRC & MoRTH certified Road Safety Auditor and have conducted Road Safety Audits for more than 400 km of National Highways and Expressway projects in the NHAI Jammu Region.I completed my undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering in 2016 from Alagappa Chettiar Government College of Engineering & Technology (ACCET), Karaikudi, a Government autonomous institution in Tamil Nadu. Following graduation, I worked as a Graduate Engineer Trainee at M.P. Integrated Roofing Pvt. Ltd. in the Gurgaon–Delhi NCR region.I later pursued my M.Tech. in Transportation Engineering and Management from the National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli (formerly REC Tiruchirappalli), under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Prior to my doctoral studies, I worked for 1.5 years at Zydex Industries Pvt. Ltd. as Assistant Manager (Technical/Sales) in the Warm Mix Additives and Soil Stabilization Division, gaining valuable industry experience in pavement materials and field implementation.
