About Suma M.D. Appannanavar
As a mother of a teen and tween, I understand how difficult it is to navigate the complexities of digital age parenting, often feeling overwhelmed and unsure. Through candid conversations with my children, I realized they, too, needed guidance in a world that can feel daunting. With my background as a doctor, researcher, and teacher, I embarked on a journey to develop strategies that empower both my children and myself. This led me to create my book, ‘Mind Your Screen’ (stories and strategies for digital age parents and teens ) which offers insights into the challenges teens face in the digital realm and practical ways to navigate them. Today, I’m committed to fostering understanding and connection between parents and teens. I focus on # critical thinking# addressing cyberbullying # bridging the generational gap with technology, and # equipping young people to harness the opportunities of the digital world while staying aware of its risks. My personal growth as a mentor and professional growth as a leader parallels my children’s, and I am dedicated to helping other working parents and their teens and tweens, through their parenting journeys.
