About Srilakshmi Katar
Sri Lakshmi Katar is currently Engineering Group Manager managing new products group. In her current role she is responsible for managing all vehicle programs. sourcing cell chemistry and formats for EV’s. and lead 15 direct reports. Prior She was Senior Cell Technical specialist in Advanced Technology battery cell group in General Motors. Expert in pouch, prismatic and cylindrical cell design for graphite, silicon, lithium metal, solid state. Li ion cell cost modeling as well. Cell supplier selection for model year vehicle from 2025 and beyond 2028 (all solid state state and hybrid sodium ion, lithium metal batteries). Leading cell integration into pack through process of engineering. Virtual modeling from material, electrode, cell, module, and pack based on vehicle technical specifications. Advanced cell design validation planning. Knowledgeable in battery design studio. Dr Katar was Battery Applications Engineer in Robert Bosch Battery Systems in North America. After Completion of the Postdoctoral degree. Dr. Katar started her career in Bosch Battery Systems as Battery Applications Engineer in USABC, Fiat 500, module development, pack for autonomous car, EV pack for truck applications, project for increasing energy densities of a lithium ion battery by using high energy density electrode materials. Dr. Katar later went on to pursue many customer acquisition projects. Worked as Liaison between Samsung SDI, GS Yuasa, Lithium Energy Japan and North American Automotive Customers. I ventured as a Technology Scouting Specialist to identify/screen start up companies with a Silicon Anode Technology that works while integrating that technology in Lithium ion batteries made by Bosch. Dr. Katar started synthesis of platinum ruthenium binary alloy catalysts for fuel cells for Army Research Project and developing Silicon/Graphite Anode materials for Lithium ion batteries during a postdoctoral fellowship in a NASA Space Grant Consortium project after graduating Doctor in Philosophy degree in Chemistry.
