Dr. Sibananda Sahu is a Postdoctoral Researcher in Extractive Metallurgy, specializing in critical metals recovery, hydrometallurgy, and sustainable resource engineering. His work focuses on developing next-generation processes for extracting value from low-grade ores, industrial tailings, and complex waste streams, with a strong emphasis on circular economy and green metallurgy.He completed his Ph.D. in Chemistry under the guidance of Prof. Niharbala Devi, where he developed innovative hydrometallurgical pathways for lithium and cobalt recovery from spent lithium-ion batteries using organic lixiviants and advanced separation techniques.With over 4+ years of research and industrial R&D experience, Dr. Sahu has contributed to diverse domains including:Battery recycling (LIBs)Graphite and advanced carbon materialsBauxite beneficiation and red mud minimizationRecovery of critical metals (Li, Co, V, Ti, Fe, Mg, Ca, Ba)He has developed scalable, eco-friendly processes and possesses strong expertise in process design, optimization, and advanced material characterization (ICP-OES, XRD, SEM-EDS, FTIR, AAS).Dr. Sahu has published 10+ Scopus-indexed research articles and presented at leading conferences such as CHEMCON, IIM-ATM, and IC4M. He is a recipient of the Young Innovator’s Award (IIME) and Best Presentation awards for his contributions to sustainable metallurgy.He is currently focused on advancing critical mineral self-reliance, magnet recycling, and industrial-scale resource recovery technologies, with a vision to bridge research and real-world metallurgical solutions.
