ABOUT SHUBHAM GANAR
I am a Mechanical Engineer and Researcher with a strong foundation in surface-fluid interactions, Rheological studies, functional surfaces, and advanced material design, backed by a decade-long journey spanning from undergraduate engineering to cutting-edge doctoral research at the IIT Goa. My work bridges fundamental science with real-world applications, exploring how surface chemistry, textures, and flexibility, coatings influence droplet dynamics, energy dissipation, wetting, adhesion, and thermal behavior. With a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (Thesis submitted, 2025), I bring not only rigorous academic expertise but also extensive hands-on experimental experience, having designed, fabricated, and optimized several high-precision experimental setups under resource-constrained conditions. My research has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals such as Physics of Fluids, Surfaces & Interfaces, and Langmuir. My research interests include:Droplet and bubble dynamics – High-speed imaging and analysis of droplet spreading, retraction, rebound, and splashing.Surface-liquid interactions - Wetting, adhesion, and capillarity on textured, flexible, and lubricated surfaces.Nanoparticles and colloids - Synthesis, polymer–nanoparticle composites, and rheological studies.Heat transfer & condensation - Exploring droplet-wise condensation on engineered surfaces for energy-efficient applications.Soft matter & electro-wettability -Tuning wettability and adhesion under electric fields. My skills include:Software: MATLAB, COMSOL, Adobe Illustrator, MS Office Suite.Characterization Techniques: FESEM, AFM, Rheometer, High-Speed Imaging, Force Tensiometer, Goniometer, Laser Engraver.Grant Writing: Assisted in successful proposals for SERB, DRDO, ISRO, and Tata Trusts.Supervised and guided 3 M.Tech and 14 B.Tech. students in thesis projects.Beyond academia, I have a rich sports background, representing Maharashtra in cricket and playing for IIT Goa at the Inter IIT Sports Meet 2024. Sports have instilled in me resilience, discipline, and teamwork, qualities I bring to both research and professional collaborations.I aim to continue exploring fluid-surface interactions, biomimetic materials, and advanced functional surfaces through postdoctoral research and collaborative industrial projects. In the long run, I aspire to build a career that combines academic research, applied innovations, and mentorship, contributing toward solutions in energy, sustainability, aerospace, and healthcare technologies.I would be delighted to connect.
