ABOUT SHARON C.
I have taken the step of making opportunities rather than hoping they turn up. Building a body of creative work in the real world is challenging but one of the most enjoyable experiences I have ever had. Creative collaboration can turn into research and this is the point I am at now. Producing video and audio which links to considerations of performance and what this really means in the 21st century.I work with audio for screen primarily and this has evolved through studio production, sound design and game audio design and implimentation to narratology.I completed my PhD in three years and found it to be a period which challenged me as a student but ultimately made me a better writer and researcher and yes, student!Ultimately I am inspired when I can work with people who do things rather than talk about them. To be listened to and have space to bring my creativity and knowledge is important - hardwork and focus = opportunity.I like to build relationships with people at all levels - there is always something to be learned or shared from these links and it is important to be open to this opportunity.I lived in America for 5 years and this gave me the chance to explore different educational systems and learning environments as well as working with students with very different personal lived experiences. Teaching film and music recording is great and I like to introduce students to the quirkiest possible example from their chosen subject. Although they always manage to surprise me with some hidden audio/visual gem too!
