About Shankar Subramaniam
Received Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering and Masters Degree in Engineering Design from Bharathiar University in the year 2001 & 2002. Received University Rank I for Engineering Design and completed Ph.D in Machine Design / Mechanical Engineering (Full Time) at Indian Institute of Technology Madras during 2008. Worked as Senior Engineer – R&D at CONVERTEAM EDC Pvt Ltd Chennai/USA for 2 1/2 years. From 2010, working as an Associate Professor until 2016, then as a Professor in Mechatronics Engineering at Kongu Engineering College. From July 2019 to Nov 2023 as Head R&D Cell and from Nov 2023 to till date as Head Mechatronics Engineering. Published more than 169 International Journal Papers indexed in SCOPUS/SCI. Research area includes Computational contact mechanics, Ergonomics, Environmental Health and Safety, Bio Mechanics, Tribology, FEM and Composites. Principal investigator for 11 R&D projects worth more than 115 Lakhs. i.e. UGC Major Research Project, AICTE – RPS project, SERB fast track young scientist scheme, DST R&D, ICMR R&D, DHR R&D and IE(I). One patent got granted and one patent recently published as Inventor. Under my guidance 6 Ph.D, 26 PG students and 40 UG batches submitted their thesis. Presently guiding 3 Ph.D Scholars in different research areas. Also a member of MYTRIBOS, ISTE, IPHA, TSI and IEI. Received AICTE Career Award for Young Teachers, ISTE Best Thesis in M.Tech Mechanical Engineering, Young Engineer Award for Mechanical Engineering 20••••13 from IE(I)- Institute of Engineers (INDIA) Kolkata, Best Engineering Academics - IE(I) Erode, NPTEL SPOC Award, Best Researcher awards and Overall best faculty award\'s from Kongu Engineering College. For the year 2022 & 2023, my name was included in \"TOP 2% SCIENTIST IN THE WORLD \" in Stanford-Elsevier database. Google scholar h-index is 31, i-10 index is 76 and total citations is 4012. Delivered more than 100+ lectures to different institutes in the field of Problem Formulation Techniques, Identifying Referred Journal\'s, Paper Writing Methods, Citation Index, Ergonomics in design, Computation Biomechanics etc for the benefits of students & Faculty. As Head R&D cell (20••••23), Kongu Engineering College Scopus publications increased from 200/year to 1040/year and SCI publications increased from 160/year to 400/year. Also, institute R&D project proposals worth increased from Average of 1 crore/year to 2.5 crore/year. Also, as Head Mechatronics, presented the department with NBA committee and got 6 years of NBA accreditation under Tier I.
