I am the Director of Penal Reform Solutions Ltd, working as a Senior Consultant across the Criminal Justice System. I founded the Growth Project, which empowers staff and prisoners to transform their environment through a research informed and whole-systems approach. It draws on the learning from Nordic prisons to create safer and more humane environments. I love it. I also work for the Council of Europe, developing prison programmes, which nurture growth. In my spare time I tutor Criminology students, write and research and I am a trustee for Portsmouth Area Rape Crisis.

ABOUT SARAH LEWIS
Dr Sarah Lewis is a Cultural Coach and leader in Growth, a new emerging philosophy that has been found to significant reduce harm in correctional settings. This approach has been found to improve staff retention and wellbeing, and reduce violence, self harm and conflict in correctional settings. Dr Lewis focuses on trust building, relationships and values-based practices to transform correctional settings. She is the Director of Penal Reform Solutions, a unique organisation that provides consultancy, training and programmes from the perspective of those with practitioner (police, prison and probation), academic and lived experience. She is also the Director of Grow, Transform, Belong CIC, a not for profit organisation, which focuses on promote professional and personal development in schools and the community. Dr Lewis designs and delivers programmes, as well as provides consultancy to prisons (and other correctional services) that want to improve and grow. Sarah is currently a Senior Consultant for the Council of Europe, working on programme development, training and consultancy. Dr Lewis is a passionate speaker, available for events and conferences and facilitating/chairing events. Dr Lewis specialises in co-production, inclusive and creative research methodologies, to create high quality, rich findings, to magnify practice. Dr Sarah Lewis is the founder of the Growth Alliance and is passionate about creating a Growth Movement, which promote humanity, hope and relationships across the Criminal Justice Sector. Dr Sarah Lewis is the author of Therapeutic Correctional Relationships, a research informed practitioner guide to developing relationships and mending relational ruptures. This work focuses on proactive, preventative strategies to promote meaning and well-being, leading to better retention of staff and a more professional service. Having worked in secure and residential environments for over 18 years, Dr Sarah Lewis established the Growth Project- an initiative which has been found to transform correctional cultures by magnifying the voice of staff and service user, taking a research-informed approach and a whole systems approach. Dr Sarah Lewis worked for 6 years within psychological interventions in Probation before moving to the Institute of Criminal Justice Studies, where she trained Probation Officers and taught undergraduate students in Criminology, Penology and Criminal Psychology. Dr Sarah Lewis now actively promotes the need for a Growth Movement, to make prisons and correctional services safe and meaningful.
