ABOUT SARAH KNOWLES

I\'m a mixed-method researcher, knowledge mobiliser and implementation scientist, focused on user experience, co-production and impact. I’ve worked in research for 20 years at the Universities of York, Manchester, and Nottingham, before moving into the digital sector. I specialise in digital health, mental health, and service evaluation, and work across the commercial, public and third sectors. Research skills- Qualitative design & analysis (interviews, focus groups, co-design workshops, thematic/framework analysis)- Quantitative design & analysis (surveys, experimental design, statistical analysis)- User research (Discovery & Alpha, usability testing, contextual research,rapid ethnography)- Evidence synthesis (systematic reviews, meta-synthesis, narrative review)- Stakeholder engagement, integrated knowledge translation, dissemination to diverse audiences Previous experience and projects:I‘ve held grants with NIHR, MRC, Health Foundation, ESRC and UKRI, and won two competitive fellowships with NIHR. My work has been cited in NICE guidance and reports by NHS England and Public Health England, and in health policy in the UK, Canada, New Zealand, Sweden and Norway- NIHR Knowledge Mobilisation Research Fellow: patient involvement in health data and service improvement- NIHR School for Primary Care Research Fellow: personalisation of mental health care- Lead on impact evaluation and training for the UKRI Closing The Gap mental health research network- Researcher member of the NIHR Race Equality Public Action Group, working to understand how to be an effective ally in addressing health inequalities- Principal Investigator for UKRI Citizen Science Collaboration award on youth co-production in mental healthMy interests (talk to me!): inclusive and collaborative research, data feminism, engaged scholarship to address social and health inequalities.
