ABOUT SANJEEVV KUUMAAR SAXENA

I am Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Saxena, currently serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of Hospitality & Tourism Management at Assam University (A Central University), Silchar since August 2021. With a diverse and enriching experience of over 32 years in both industry and academics, I have dedicated my career to the advancement and excellence of hospitality and tourism education. My professional journey in the hospitality industry began in 1992 with The Taj Group of Hotels, where I worked as a KMT for over five years. This experience laid a strong foundation in operational excellence and customer service. In 1998, I transitioned to academia by joining the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), Jodhpur, as a Lecturer, where I contributed for over nine years towards nurturing aspiring hospitality professionals. In 2007, I re-entered the industry as a Training Manager at Jaypee Hotels, where I worked for more than five years and later took on the responsibility of Principal at IHM Silvassa (affiliated to the National Council for Hotel Management, New Delhi). My journey came full circle when I rejoined Jaypee Hotels & Resorts in 2013, where I served as Additional General Manager (Learning & Development) and Head of the Jaypee Hotel Training Centre, Agra for eight years, spearheading various talent development initiatives and training programs. Academically, I hold 3years Diploma in Hotel Management from IHM Lucknow, B.Sc. in Hotel & Hospitality Administration, B.Com, M.Com (Business Administration – Gold Medalist), MBA, and Ph.D. in Human Resource Management. I have also completed several prestigious executive programs, including: Leadership Programme from IIM Kolkata & IIT Kharagpur. Strategic Management, Essentials of Marketing, Service Marketing and Customer Relationship Management from IIM Bangalore Management of Field Sales and Management of New Product & Services from IIT Kanpur In addition to teaching, I am deeply involved in research and publication. I have authored 31 research papers published in Scopus, UGC Care, and peer-reviewed journals, and I have also written five books in the domain of hospitality and management. I have had the privilege of supervising two PhD scholars and one MPhil scholar, contributing to the academic and professional development of future researchers. With a steadfast commitment to academic excellence and industry engagement, I continue to contribute meaningfully to the field of hospitality and tourism education, shaping future leaders and innovators.
