ABOUT SAIRA BANO
I am a GP with a specialist focus in obesity and metabolic health, working at the forefront of how primary care understands and treats chronic metabolic disease. My work focuses on shifting the conversation away from blame and towards the biological, hormonal and environmental drivers of obesity, while helping patients access safe, evidence based treatment and long term support. Alongside this specialist interest, I am an NHS and Private GP with over a decade of clinical experience delivering patient care across primary care and digital health settings. My career combines frontline medicine with innovation in healthcare delivery, medical education and population health. I am a GP Trainer and mentor to resident doctors, supporting the development of the next generation of clinicians. Teaching and mentorship are central to my career and I am passionate about helping doctors build confident, compassionate and evidence based practice. I am also the CEO and Co-founder of SwiftDoctor, a nationwide online GP and pharmacy service designed to improve access to safe, regulated and patient centred private healthcare. SwiftDoctor combines medical expertise with digital innovation to deliver high quality care that fits around modern lives. My clinical interests include obesity and metabolic health, lifestyle medicine, preventative care and the responsible use of emerging therapies such as GLP1 medications. I am particularly interested in how primary care can better address the biological, environmental and social drivers of chronic disease. Alongside my clinical and leadership roles, I am actively involved in education, speaking and public health advocacy. I regularly share insights on obesity, metabolic health and the future of primary care through teaching, professional events and digital platforms. My aim is to help clinicians, organisations and the public better understand metabolic health while reducing stigma and improving access to evidence based care. Through my work I aim to bridge clinical medicine, technology and education to create healthcare systems that are more accessible, more equitable and more responsive to the needs of patients and communities.
