ABOUT RUCHI ASATI
I am a passionate and ambitious researcher dedicated to making a significant impact in the field of agriculture, particularly in Genetics and Plant Breeding. My deep curiosity and enthusiasm for learning have driven me to pursue a PhD, where I focus on studying chickpea’s response to drought using a combination of biochemical, physiological, molecular, and in vitro approaches.During my postgraduate studies, I worked on genetic variability analysis in F2 rice generations, gaining valuable insights into genetic diversity and plant breeding. Additionally, I worked as a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) for a year, where I enhanced my expertise in conventional breeding methods and biochemical analysis while also developing leadership skills.Throughout my research journey, I have gained hands-on experience in crossing different crops, including chickpea, rice, mustard, linseed, and wheat. My technical expertise includes DNA isolation, DNA quantification, PCR, QTL mapping, and tissue culture techniques, with a special focus on media preparation, inoculation, sub-culturing, somatic embryogenesis, and hardening. In my PhD research, I have developed somaclonal variants using different concentrations of as a selection agent for drought tolerance in chickpea.I am actively seeking a postdoctoral research associate opportunity in Genetics and Plant Breeding or Molecular Breeding, with a focus on crop plants. My goal is to further enhance my skills and contribute impactful research that advances agricultural science.I was honored with the Best Thesis Award at the International Conference on Innovations to Achieve Climate-Resilient Smart Agriculture for Ensuring Global Food and Nutritional Security (2024) at ICAR-IISR, Lucknow, U.P, presented by AEETDS society. Additionally, I have received multiple Best Oral and Poster Presentation Awards at various national and international conferences. I also secured Third Prize for Research Proposal/Synopsis Presentation at the Madhya Pradesh PhD Colloquium (2022).I am eager to contribute my expertise in plant breeding, molecular genetics, and biotechnology to cutting-edge research projects that address global agricultural challenges.
