ABOUT JOSEPH RODRIGO
Dr. Joseph Rodrigo is a board-certified anesthesiologist with over 22-years of experience as a clinician, educator, healthcare leader and anesthesia consultant. With extensive experience in peri-operative analysis, management, cost containment, he has developed a sought-after expertise in anesthesia department design, implementation, and transitions which has led him across the country to lead and advise numerous health systems, hospitals and facilities. Dr. Rodrigo attended Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his anesthesiology residency at The Ohio University Medical Center. After graduation, he joined a private practice in Charleston, SC, where he developed a passion for regional anesthesia. In 2008, he started an acute pain management service at Roper Hospital and developed it into the largest non-academic acute pain program on the east coast. During this time, he founded The American School of Ultrasound-guided Regional Anesthesia (AMSURA) to educate and train other physicians in regional anesthesia. He has also presented, lectured and proctored workshops at the some of the largest anesthesia conferences, including the ASA and AOCA, and hospital systems across the country which has led him to become a nationally recognized expert in regional anesthesia and acute pain management. As the Medical Director of Anesthesia and Peri-Operative Medicine at Carolina Coast Surgery Center, he led the facility to earn the prestigious 2017 APEX Quality Award for excellence in patient care and satisfaction for orthopedics and outpatient total joint replacements.In 2013, he was named a Fellow of the American Osteopathic College of Anesthesiologists (FAOCA), where he also served as Board Member and Education Committee Chair. He also served as an Oral Board Examiner for the American Osteopathic Board of Anesthesiology from 2007 to 2016.An award-winning educator, he was recognized with the Outstanding Alumnus Award by Ohio University’s Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2014.His expertise extends beyond clinical practice to include serving as an experienced medical expert witness and former FAA-designated Aviation Medical Examiner. A dedicated leader in the field, Dr. Rodrigo’s contributions to anesthesiology have had a profound impact on both his patients and the broader medical community.
