ABOUT RICHARD LLOYD

I have close to 20 years\' experience of managing mortuary facilities and businesses, having owned a firm of funeral directors from 2006 until its sale in 2017, after which I worked as a consultant to a national chain of funeral directors. Since 2020 I have been the Manager of the Human Anatomy Centre, at the University of Cambridge, overseeing one of the busiest body donation programmes in the United Kingdom. I am Fellow in Anatomy at Lucy Cavendish College, University of Cambridge, where I teach human anatomy to medical undergraduates.I have academic qualifications in forensic science (MSc Forensic Archaeology and Anthropology, Cranfield University, MSc in Applied Toxicology, Surrey University, and PhD in Post-Mortem Forensic Toxicology, Cranfield University).I hold the Cardiff University Bond Solon Expert Witness Certificate, and undertake National Crime Agency and private consultancy in areas of post-mortem forensic science. I have wide-ranging experience in all areas of mortuary and funeral practice, particularly body preservation (embalming), storage, repatriation, burial and exhumation. With a PhD in the detection of drugs of forensic interest in embalmed and decomposed bodies, I also undertake work concerning post-mortem toxicology. Most of my consultancy work comes via professional contacts, but I am happy to receive direct enquiries relating to any of my areas of expertise, and I am also happy to provide guidance to the public on the interpretation of post-mortem and associated reports.
