About Ranashree
I was honored with the Prime Minister Research Fellowship (PMRF) by the Ministry of Education (MoE), India, in August 2018 to pursue my Ph.D. in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India. My research area in Ph.D. was pulsed power engineering. It is an interdisciplinary research program that demands expertise in high voltage and high current handling capability and good knowledge of electromagnetism, power electronics, instrumentation, embedded systems, and control systems. Pulsed Power Engineering is the science and technology of accumulating energy over a relatively long period and releasing it quickly, thus increasing the instantaneous power. It has several applications, including electromagnetic launchers, liquid food sterilization, water treatment, medical applications, electromagnetic manufacturing, linear induction accelerator, laser driver, particle beam generator, etc. My research during Ph.D. included designing and developing an electromagnetic launcher (EML), viz, induction coilgun and pulsed electric field (PEF)-based liquid food sterilization system.1.
