ABOUT PHIL MARTIN
Dr Phil Martin is Head of Transport Safety at TRL and leads TRL’s transport safety work in the UK and globally. Phil has 15 years’ experience in applying the Safe Systems approach to all surface transport sectors and building safe, sustainable and resilient transport systems. Focusing on evidence-based research and consultancy, he has led projects that support the development of policies, regulations and standards for government, roads and transport authorities. Phil is also the co-lead of TRL’s Transport Foresight team, who gather intelligence and provide insights on the future of transport to support clients anticipate and strategically prepare for uncertain futures. He is an active member of several international working groups, expert panels and government committees, has authored multiple high impact peer-reviewed journal publications and presents his research at national and international road safety conferences.
