About Padmini Sasikumar

Currently employed as Assistant Professor of English at the Department of Sciences and Humanities, Christ University, Bangalore, I hold an MA, MPhil & PhD from The Institute of English, Kerala University. My PhD was on select works of Salman Rushdie focusing on the poetics & politics of Rushdie’s textual world, revealing the configuration of power play active in constructs as varied as identity, language, politics, culture, colonialism, and history. The study espouses the logic of anti-foundationalism in Rushdie’s texts, leaving it open to critical scrutiny. My research interests span Women’s Studies, Indian English Literature, Cultural Studies, Diasporic and postcolonial literatures, and Interdisciplinary Research. In my role as an educator and mentor, I support students in Research writing,English language, communication, and composition skills, as well as interdisciplinary courses grounded in intersecting debates of contemporary significance designed to broaden students’ awareness and critical engagement with diverse issues permeating texts and contexts. I believe that an integrative humanistic approach helps students make informed choices about how to think, read, and write, and how to make better ones.
