About Nitin Kumar Singh
As a microbiology scientist with 15 years of experience, I\'ve had the privilege of leading NASA research teams and advancing space biology and microbiology through my expertise in microbial genomics, biosecurity, biosafety, epidemiology, metagenomics, multi-omics, and computational biology. My pioneering work on the International Space Station (ISS) has led to the discovery of 15 novel bacterial and fungal species, shedding light on the complex interactions between humans and microbes in extreme environments. As leader of the Mars Sample Return Sterilization Group, I\'ve developed strategic plans, managed risks, mentored teams, and enhanced public health research. My commitment to research integrity, DURC, biosafety, and ethics is reflected in my service as policy maker and reviewer on Caltech\'s research compliance and Institutional Review Boards.
