ABOUT NINA FRANCIS

I am an academic psychologist working at the intersection of psychology, family relationships, and life transitions. My work explores how expectations, identity, and loss shape our experiences within families. I completed my PhD in 2025, building on earlier master’s research in the same area: the psychosocial impact when there is a rupture in a hoped-for future. My research examines the complex emotional and psychological experiences that parents may have to navigate when expectations and hopes about family life or parenthood do not unfold as imagined and often, deeply hoped for.Alongside my academic research, I support individuals and professionals navigating challenging family transitions. My work is grounded in an understanding that family relationships and individual future dreams are so often shaped by unspoken hopes, social expectations, and nuanced personal experiences.I bring psychological insight into conversations around family law, conflict, separation, and co-parenting. My interest lies in how communication, emotion, and identity influence the way families navigate difficult transitions. If you\'d like to know more, drop me a message. I never turn down the opportunity for a brew and a chat.
