About Nicky Ali Jackson
I am a college professor who serves as coordinator of the Criminal Justice program. I am honored to have spent the past 35 years instructing and mentoring thousands of students who have gone on to work in law, law enforcement, corrections, social service agencies, education, etc. I have enjoyed serving on countless boards and committees. As a Victimologist, I have learned that many types of victimization occur in society. Those who have been wrongly arrested, convicted, and incarcerated are forgotten victims. I have made it my mission to raise public awareness of this issue in hopes of reducing the numbers of innocent people languishing in a carceral state. I am most proud of spearheading conversation for the need for a compensation bill for Indiana exonerees. After several years of meetings and discussions with legislators and members of the Innocence Project of NY, HB 1150 was authored by State Rep Steurwald and Senators Young and Randolphs. This bill provides monetary compensation for exonerated prisoners.
