ABOUT MUEEN BOGIS

Dr. Mueen Bogis is a visionary landscape architect dedicated to creating sustainable urban environments through the fusion of art and science. His work focuses on harnessing green infrastructure to build resilient cities. Over a remarkable 17-year career, Mueen has demonstrated professional and academic excellence, earning a doctoral degree and 19 prestigious accolades, including honors from the ASLA, Land8, 2 awards from the Journal of Digital Landscape Architecture in Germany, Stanley Abbott, and Virginia Tech.Mueen\'s pioneering research revolves around understanding how humans make trade-offs for unmaintained ecological ‎landscapes, empowering landscape architects with tools to minimize ecological losses in favor of aesthetically ‎pleasing landscapes. Additionally, his recent collaborative research, funded by NASA, further expands his expertise in climate adaptation in urban areas.‎Over the past decade, Mueen has focused on various projects and research endeavors, including water-sensitive design, ‎cultural ecosystem services, resilient infrastructure, urban heat mitigation, nature-based solutions and climate change adaptation, and community engagement.‎Mueen earned his Ph.D. in Architecture and Design Research and Master of Landscape Architecture degrees from Virginia Tech and a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from King Abdulaziz University. He has taught at Virginia Tech, the University of Oklahoma, and King Abdulaziz University, and is now teaching at Cal Poly State University at San LuisObispo - California.
