I started UK Mediation Ltd in as a base from which to pursue my ideas about conflict resolution and mediation. Having worked as a psychotherapist for 11 years, I became interested in how people and organisations can become dysfunctional as a a result of badly-managed or unaddressed conflict. Under the umbrella of UK Mediation Ltd, I now use my considerable experience and my knowledge of gestalt psychotherapy to resolve all types of disputes. I specialise in sitiuations of seemingly intractable conflict, especially where personalities, attitudes, or difficult circumstances are getting in the way of resolution. UK Mediation has now grown to encompass an enormous breadth of work in the UK and overseas. As an organisation of principally non-lawyer mediators, we now offer all forms of mediation and mediation training, we set the standards for mediation training, we support people working in the profession, and we especially support the consumers of mediation: informing, encouraging, and building confidence in mediation as a highly effective method of dispute resolution. I still offer mediation myself, usually for teams, groups & organisations who are \'stuck\' in conflict situations. I offer supervision / practice consultancy for many mediators, and I develop & run innovative learning programmes to support people to manage their (and their organisations\') own conflict better.

ABOUT MIKE TALBOT
Conflict happens. My background in psychology and psychotherapy has given me a detailed insight into the psychological basis of conflict and its resolution. I have developed a new model of how conflict happens, how we sometimes get stuck there, and what we can do to resolve it more effectively. I have studied the subject for over 24 years now, and have made it my life\'s work, the focus of my doctorate, and the core knowledge that underpins the work of my highly successful companies, UK Mediation and EU Mediation. I resolve disputes of all kinds, in the UK and internationally: preventing and resolving workplace conflict, transforming people\'s working relationships, building dialogue wherever communication has broken down or is beginning to do so. In complaints scenarios, I shortcut the usual damaging formal processes, and bring about resolution in a fraction of the time and with none of the damage. In commercial disputes, and within teams, groups and businesses, I can stop unresolved conflict getting in the way of people achieving their full potential. I started UK Mediation in building an expert team, and allowing me to apply my unique relational approach to conflict resolution. The company has grown beyond anything I could have expected. Our work, and the application of the relational model, has branched out into all forms of mediation and mediation training. We now work with FTSE 100 companies, with SMEs and third sector organisations, with the military and the emergency services, with government and statutory bodies, and with individuals, teams, and groups of all sizes: understanding, preventing, resolving, and managing all kinds of conflict.
