Dr Mathew Leonardi is a minimally invasive gynecologic surgeon and sonologist at McMaster University in Canada. He has been awarded his PhD by the University of Sydney, which was focused on the utility of ultrasound in the diagnosis and surgical management of endometriosis.He is a member of ISUOG (International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology), where he holds a position on the ISUOG Future Leaders Taskforce, and AAGL (American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists), where he is a member of the subcommittee “Special Interest Group in Endometriosis”. He was appointed a World Endometriosis Society Junior Ambassador in January 2020.Since immersing himself in the clinical and academic world of endometriosis in late 2017, he has published numerous articles and presented at several international congresses (ISUOG, SEUD, AAGL, WFUMB) on endometriosis. He has won awards for his presentations on ultrasound and endometriosis at ISUOG in 2018 and 2019 and SEUD in 2019.He is currently involved with a variety of local and multicentre international projects on endometriosis, ranging from studies on pathophysiology to assessment of surgical outcomes. He is very dedicated to advancing research to improve clinical care and this will be the major focus of his career.
