Currently supporting 89 foreign-owned companies in their UK plans. They operate in either the medtech and digital health sector or biotech/pharma. Projects range from the opening of a modest office to a brand new R&D facility or manufacturing plant with hundreds of employees. Beyond my day-to-day role, I continue to lead IST Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council and support colleagues, with my most recent HR role being a TUPE rep. I find coaching and mentoring very fulfilling, beyond training delivery.

ABOUT MARIE-AUDE PILKINGTON

Fluency in 5 European languages, market and sector specialism have led to a proven track record in collaborating with multinational companies in highly regulated industries and attracting Foreign Direct Investment (fDi) to the UK. I now support healthcare and life sciences companies, after developing in-depth knowledge of the nuclear, renewable energy, defence, automotive and aerospace industries. Over the last 5 years which have introduced much uncertainty in a global, dwindling and increasingly competitive fDi market, 76 projects I led upon have helped inject £467 million into the UK economy and created 1,800 new jobs. With the professional help of DBT-wide network, both new and existing investors have admirably weathered recent turbulent times introduced by the EU exit and the pandemic. Industry feedback has led to review certain pieces of legislation and policies. The UK has still a lot to offer to future-looking and innovative businesses. Competitive financial incentives include the lowest EU corporate tax at 25%, uncapped R&D tax relief, capital allowance permanent full expensing, a frozen multiplier in business rates, a reduction in employees\' national insurance contributions and the benefits associated with the investment zones and freeports.
