ABOUT MARIA CANTALINI-WILLIAMS
Presently, I am honoured to serve as Dean of the Faculty of Education, Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. My career in education has included a range of diverse, rewarding and successful employment experiences. I have been fortunate to build on the foundation of my teaching vocation, in assuming positions as a program consultant with the Waterloo Catholic District School Board and education professor and Director/Associate Dean at Nipissing University, Brantford campus. In each of these roles, I have focussed on the best interests of learners and our partners in education. My research mainly examines the benefits and challenges of work-integrated learning experiences as related to such practicum models as internships, international placements, service learning and peer mentorship. Other research interests are centred on transitions to school for young children and community partnerships. I have extensive experience in facilitating international experiences for teacher candidates having founded and organized the practicum to Italy from 20••••17. Over 400 teacher candidates have benefitted from the experience of teaching English to students in Italian schools. I have served as a consultant with the Rideau Hall Foundation to develop education resources to promote innovative thinking, problem-solving and project-based learning for Canadian youth.
