About Margaret Simonian
I utilize Proteomics, Proteogenomics, and Radioproteomics in biomarker discovery and drug development/therapy for disease/ cancers, and advancing cancer Immunotherapy/ Immuno-oncology with Proteomics approaches. I design and manage projects and collaborate with faculties & clinicians in Universities & Hospitals, nationally & internationally My novel research on Brain AVM was the first in the world to utilize Proteomics technology to identify protein targets for AVM molecular and vascular therapies post radiosurgery. I have developed in vitro and in vivo biotinylation methodology in the rat model of AVM and in the murine cerebral endothelial cell lines, to label membrane proteins of the endothelium. The proteins identified from my research are currently being used among others in the AVM animal trials before proceeding to the clinical trials. I also work on Brain & Liver tumors among other tumors More recently, I have been leading initiatives at UCLA to integrate proteomics with radiology imaging data contributing to the establishment and advancement of the emerging field of radioproteomics. The objective of this work is enhance diagnostic accuracy and support personalized treatment strategies for cancer patients undergoing radiological treatmentsRecognized Reviewer for multiple Scientific Journals, and Editorial Board Member for 4 Journals. Organizing Committee Member of the International Conference on Precision Medicine and Member of HPP Human Proteome Project, part of HUPO Human Proteome Organization My novel research on QX (Queensland Unknown) was again the first in the world to utilize proteomics to identify protein biomarkers of disease resistance. This research findings have been used in the breeding programs by NSW Department of Primary Industries for a decade now and appeared in Australian newspapers /media Lecturer: University undergrad & grad courses: Chemistry, Proteomics, Genetics, Immunology. Supervision: PhD, Masters, gard & undergrad students. Member of the \"International Team of Experts on Science Committee\" at the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Republic of Armenia, as of 8/2020Selective Awards: HUPO\'s Friends of HUPO Reception Initiative 2025, HUPO’s ECR award 2019, HUPO’s HPP Clinical Scientist & Pathologists award 2018.
