ABOUT LP HEFLIN

LP Heflin is an emerging public health professional, social researcher, and scholar with an extensive background in public health policy, chronic disease self-management program development, grant writing, emergency response, and public health communication. As a public health analyst, Heflin works alongside high-level leaders on special projects in Global Health to improve the health, safety, and security of Americans while reducing morbidity and mortality worldwide. Prior to her time in Global Health, Heflin worked alongside state and local government and health officials as a Quarantine Public Health Officer in response to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in several states and U.S. territories. As an alum of the Bill & Melinda Gates Millennium foundation she gas used actively worked to give back to her community through mentorship, service, and advocacy. In the academy of scholars Heflin’s research explores the Intersectionality of servant-leadership and public health communication to disinvested communities during the COVID-19 pandemic in hopes of elevating the detrimental consequences of both social and structural determinants of health. In her community, Heflin is a board member of GLUED, Inc. a non-profit organization in the Metro-Atlanta area that strives to inspire young ladies who reside in disinvested communities through mentorship, counseling, unique cultural experiences designed to promote resilience.Heflin is also a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc, the National Hampton University Alumni Association - Atlanta Chapter, the Urban League of Greater Atlanta, the National Association of Parliamentarians, Blacks in Government (BIG), the NAACP - DeKalb Branch, the Young Professionals Network of the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, and many other service-based organizations with the goal of serving as an advocate of the importance of healthy eating and active living. Heflin is a graduate of Hampton University where she obtained her BA in Political Science, Old Dominion University where she obtained her MS in Community and Environmental Health, and Liberty University where she obtained the Doctor of Strategic Leadership in observation of public health communication, servant-leadership, and organizational leadership. Heflin has a passion for public health and works tirelessly to bring her public health knowledge to the table to promote healthy hearts, minds, bodies, souls, and hair.
